Who Are We, you ask?

We have two versions of who we are… a marketing version and OUR version. First is our version and at the end of this page is our “marketing” version!

In reality, we’re a bunch of guys that have been fishing and working together for over 30 years. Most of the Causeway Crew worked on party and charter boats together until Mike and Bobby (the co-owners of Causeway Bait and Tackle) purchased the shop 25 years ago. That’s when we all started to migrate from the boats to the shop. When Mike and Bobby purchased the store, the previous owner told them “there is NO WAY this place can sustain two full time salaries”. Now, 20 + years later, we have FIVE full time salaries and SIX part timers!!

The shop is open 16 hours a day from April to December and we only close the place TWO DAYS A YEAR!None of us were born with silver spoons or enormous bank rolls, so everything we have accomplished has been the result of hard work and nothing less. We didn’t come from “Corporate America”, we didn’t retire from something and start selling bait and tackle as a hobby… this is, truly, a labor of love for us and we think we’ve become pretty good at it!Mike and Bobby, along with the rest of the crew, believe in customer service, and our dedication to our customers is what has made Causeway Bait and Tackle the institution that the North-East has come to know over the last 70 plus years that this shop has been in business. We love what we do and we’re dedicated to doing it right.We have MAXED OUT our 600 square feet of retail space but wanted to expand our knowledge and support to customers throughout the country, so here we are… on the internet. It’s kind of funny… look at us, a bunch of fisherman, trying to compete in a world of IT professionals and business sharks. We don’t have a huge warehouse full of tackle, we have 600 square feet… JAM PACKED with tackle and gear. However, we have developed such tremendous relationships with distributors, vendors and manufacturers and as a result, they have helped us to bring our services to the rest of the world. ALL of them laugh when they visit our place, they all say the same thing… “we can’t believe how much stuff you guys manage to stock in here”! These people ship product to us at the drop of a hat… anything they have… and if they don’t have it most of them will scramble to get it for us. These people ROCK, and we’re lucky to have met these people or we would never have been as successful as we have been.
