VMC Octopus Style Hook – Review
January 30th, 2009We recently added a new hook to our inventory, the VMC Octopus style hooks in three of the most commonly used sizes. The Model is considered a “Cone Cut Live Bait Hook” but they are basically an Octopus style similar to the Gamakatsu model. However, they are made from VMC’s proprietary “permasteel” and they are sharp, sharp, SHARP… right out of the pack? VMC has always had a reputation for making some of the strongest hooks on the market, and these follow that pattern. When you hold one, and try to bend it in your hand… they don’t give… not even a little!! They also have an up-turned eye, ideal for snelling your own hooks and rigs!
Around here, clam chumming is one of the most popular methods for catching striped bass and these hooks will be PERFECT for that! They would also be a great hook for live-lining Bunker, Porgies, Mullet and even Eels!
Check them out… they are REALLY nice hooks!
