Wish we had more to report but in general it’s still pretty slow and to make matters worse it sounds like the surf has been a little messed up too, from that storm way down south.

We have had a couple of decent reports late last week with the slightly cooler weather but now that it has warmed up again it’s quiet.We’ve only heard of one or two fish every here and there from all over the place… nothing consistent unfortunately. Best bets right now seem to be plugging and MOVING. The people that have been walking different beaches and spots on the back side are picking a few fish. Bait fishing out front on the ocean beaches has been virtually non-existent.

We did hear of a few Weakfish caught from the piers at Captree State Park… about an hour before high tide. Doesn’t sound too consistent but it’s about all we’ve heard about.

BUT… sounds like Montauk was ON FIRE the past couple days. We spoke with Kadir (owner of Aquaskinz) today and he fished Browns on Sunday and said it was some of the BEST surf fishing he has seen in many years with fish from 10 to 30 pounds!!! He said the surf was littered with large Spearing and what looked like some Mullet. This is a GOOD SIGN and hopefully we’ll see some of that action back this way some time soon!!
