Surf fishing around here continues to be pretty slow but for those who poke around the bay and the back sides of some of the beaches, there are some fish to be caught. Out front, there has been VERY little to talk about with a report coming in every here and there. Sounds like what little action there is has been on fresh Bunker and or clams though…  with no lure fishing to speak on the ocean beahces at least.

However, the back side of Jones Beach (parking field 10 and west End 2) have been giving up a few smaller Bass and some Bluefish as well. Most of what we’ve heard about has been on lures though… people that are walking the beaches and plugging their way around… not staying in any one particular area.

Joe, from the shop, fished with our customer Ricky Laun last night and Ricky had a 29″ Bass from the Pier on a 5″ Storm Shad in the Pearl color. Ricky also fished a few nights ago around the Wantagh bridges and had a 15 pound Bluefish and a few smaller ones on the Storm Shads as well.

Sounds like there have been quite a few Blues around the second and third Wantagh bridges at night and we’ve heard this from some of the boat fisherman too.

Our advice…. stay on the move…. don’t stay in any one particular place if there isn’t anything biting. Cover as much ground as you can this time of year and you’re bound to come across something going on somewhere.
