Striped Bass Report – Long Island South Shore – 4-20-09
April 20th, 2009Wish we had some better news, but it’s still pretty quiet around here. With the nice weather this past weekend we had many customers trying for the Bass but most reports were the same… nada.
Pete from the shop tried some plastic baits around the inlet and the Big M but didn’t even have a bump. Once there are some fish around, Pete can usually dial them in on the Slug-Go’s and Fin-S baits so he’s a pretty good gauge on the fishing in our area.
We also had a few people try Clamm Chumming the local bays and on the West Bar, but with no luck. We’re guessing that the water temps are still just a little too cold yet. As we mentioned, there seems to be some fish in Jamaica Bay, to the west but they just haven’t made their way this far east yet.
We also had one report from the Moriches area, clam chumming as well but again, no fish out that way either… yet.
We need some warmer weather!!

Well…ill still go! lol. We got shafted by Mother Nature this year. Summer just does not wish to come. Going to go across the sound from Niantic via Bartletts, Fishers, the race, Etc will troll, drag. try for fluke during the day tomm. (stripers tonight) will post
