Striped Bass Report 6-28
June 28th, 2010The strong Striped bass bite continues in the ocean, on any given day it can happen from Jones Inlet east to Fire Island inlet and beyond. Finding the bunker schools is the easy part as they are spread through out the area, find the “right” school that has some fish on it. The fishing is pretty straight forward….snag a bunker and let it swim in the school. There are times when the bass prefer a chunk or bunker head fished on the bottom under the schools, but lately it been the snag and swim technique. Tackle for this is simple, bunker snags, flourocarbon leaders, quality swivels and line and you are good to go. We have been weighing fish in the 30 lb. class on a daily basis evidence of this is on this Saturday 6/26 the trio of Dan Mulac, Rob H and Pauly B had fish of 30, 39, and 34lbs. all on bunker.
