Striped Bass Fishing Reports – Long Island, NY – 6-29-09

June 29th, 2009

The striped bass fishing continues to improve on the Long Island waters. Numerous reports have indicated the bass fishing is good in both the bays and the ocean. The Big M, 2nd Wantagh Bridge and the 3rd Wantagh Bridge have been seeing great action on clams and clam chum. This method seems to be working the best in the bay or inlet areas including south of the J1 Buoy. Place your chum pot on the bottom and whole clams on the hook and you should do well.

Their are reports of bunker schools in the ocean and they have been producing some fish. Only problem is that it has been inconsistent. There are fish east and west and in shallow or deep water but its a matter of getting on the right pod of bunker. Our exclusive Causeway Bait and Tackle tip: hit the bunker schools early in the morning at first light.
