Snapper fishing is at the height of the season right now with reports of fish up 14″… that’s a big Snapper! ALL the usual creeks and canals are holding the Snappers and as always, try to fish around high tide. We have had a number of reports from Jones Beach Pier and the cove right next to the piers with some really great fishing. Sounds like Captree Pier and the boat basin and West End have been very good lately too.

Larry Fuchs was in this morning and told us that he and his wife Jane caught the Snappers BIG TIME at Norman Levy Park in Merrick this past Sunday (9-14). They were using Spearing and fishing near the high tide and said the fishing was outstanding!

Another customer, Bob Gabriel, has been beating on the Snappers in the cove next to Jones Beach Pier for a good week now, again saying high tide was the ticket!

We’ve been saying this each week and we’ll say it again… try to use the Long Shank hooks now. The Snappers are getting big and they can make short work of the smaller hooks!
