Shore bound anglers are starting to see some good triggerfish action on either side of Jones Inlet and Fire Island Inlet. Small Porgy hooks baited with sand worms, clam or squid will do the trick.

Where would you guys recommend as good fishing spots at Jones Inlet and Fire Island Inlet? I have been checking google satellite maps and don’t see any piers. Please advice, I’m hoping to enjoy the summer fishing before the warm weather turns cold again
Thank you!
You can fish both piers at Captree, the boat basin pier and the overlook pier. If you cross over the big Robert Moses Bridge you can fish the police station pier which is on the right hand side as you cross over the bridge ( west side ). The oak beach pier on Ocean Parkway also has it’s moments usually when the tide is on the higher side. Around Jones Inlet you can fish the Short Beach Coast Guard Station construction dock, this may be the best spot out of all however, one needs a night permit to fish there even during the day. The night permit is a state permit that is issued from January 1st to April 30th then again from the Tuesday after Labor Day till December 31st. There is also a pier in Point Lookout at the west marina which can be good but it subject to a lot of seaweed on the outgoing tide. All of the above mentioned areas do have their moments however all pier fishing in our area can be VERY inconsistent.
