Used to fish for fluke when I was a kid and into my teens . Gave up back in the early 90's when finding a keeper back then was hard . Switched over to Blues ,not as good on the table but brought some home for freezer just the same !! Went fishing in Jersey last week where the size is 18 " w/ a bag limit of 6 . Total fluke in the cooler = 1 . Just to show that 21" is totally out the question and only 2 for the day is rediculous ,I won't be shelling out $65 for a day to only come home w/ the impossible of 2 21" fish !! New York Party Boats are finished .I spent all my early years on City Island and then SheepsHead Bay .The next time I go there rest assured it won't be for Fluke !!!!!

Does anyone out there realize why the commercial guys are doing what they are doing? Where did you buy fish ten years ago? At a Fishmonger, now where do you buy fish? Every Supermarket has a fishcounter where a whole counter full of fish lay until they are thrown away at the end of the week because not enough was sold to the public that demanded this counter be there. How many tons of fish must go in the garbage every week.
if you have to buy fish buy it at a fish store not the supermarket, let the store owners close these counters down so the commercial guys will need to cut down their haul every day and leave some for the recreational fisherman.

The regular person does not matter. All the fish belong to the commercial fishermen. Recreational fishers are not entitled to any. The commercial trawlers have the nets to take them all and they do. They are not stopped. They catch small fish and big fish. Just look at the filets in the stores. Some of them obviously come from very small fish. The recreational fisherman must forget fishing. Maybe we should learn to raise chickens.
