Long Island Snapper Fishing Reports

August 31st, 2009

Where do we start? The snapper fishing is now in full swing and has been very good! There is no bad bet when it comes to snapper fishing spots. Read on for more info and our Causeway Fishing Tip.

The snapper activity has been very good. No matter where you fish in the canals, you are going to catch fish. Some of the local hot spots are Bellmore Town Dock, Wantagh Park, Seamans Neck Park, John Burns Park, Jones Beach Field 10. If you are looking for some snapper spots on the Long Island Sound, try Theodore Roosevelt Park or Manhasset Bay Town Dock. You name it, the fish are there. These are a few of the locations that we have been hearing chatter about.

For those of you going for the bigger catch, now is the time to live line snapper for bottom fishing. We recommend a 3 x 3 rig with live snapper on the bottom. *Causeway Tip* A 3 x 3 rig is a hook snelled on 3 to 4 feet of leader fished 3 feet off the bottom. Make sure you have enough lead to hold the bottom. Use this technique when fishing the channels and you better your chances for weakfish and bass.

While you are at the local piers and docks, crabbing has been doing very well also.
