Long Island Snapper Fishing Report- 8-2-08
August 4th, 2008
Right now the Snapper fishing is pretty good and getting better by the day. Almost all of the action is concentrated on the north side of the bay. In our particular area (Wantagh Park, Seaford Town Dock, Seamans Neck Park and Florence Beach) the fish are anywhere from 4-9 inches and are big enough to hit Snapper Poppers, Acme Kastmasters, and small Johsnon Sprites. For those who prefer to fish with bait, small spearing on a medium shank, size 10 Snapper Hook approximately 18″ below a weighted casting float will do the trick. The key to this fishing is trying to fish an hour and a half to two hours before and after high water at each specific location. If high water happens to fall early in the morning or just before sunset the action will be faster!
