Long Island Shark Fishing Report – 7-29-09
July 29th, 2009Just in time for Shark Week next week on the Discovery Channel, the shark fishing has been making waves around Long Island.
There have been reports of “lots” of Makos in 100 – 150 feet of water. These sharks are in the 100 pound class. One report added that they saw the Makos around the 20 Fathom Curve. Hooking into one of these bad boys is always best with fresh bait, whether it be live blue fish, bonita or albacores. If you go the frozen bait route use bunker, mackerel, whole squid or blue fish fliets. We have fresh frozen bait in stock! Remember, NYS Fishing Regulations only allow 1 shark per boat.
If you are looking jump on a charter and catch a piece of the action we recommend No Time Charters out of Oceanside or Sea Wife IV out of Montauk. After you come back to the dock, stop by the shop or call us at 516-785-3223 and let us know you did. We would also love to see pictures of any shark catches. These can be emailed to us by clicking here.
