Long Island Fluke Fishing Reports – South Shore – 7-29-09

July 29th, 2009

The fluke fishing remains steady around Long Island. There are plenty of fish and plenty of action for anyone who is fluking. As it was last week, there are still not as many keepers around.

The better keeper ration has shifted from the bay to the ocean. For all of you brave enough to take on the thunderstorms sweeping arcoss the ocean, areas like Cholera Banks in 70 feet of water, south of Jones Inlet are good areas. Bigger baits like peruvian smelts, whole squid, big strip baits and sand eels have all been producing fluke. *Causeway Tip* To land those bigger fluke, try picking up some live snappers on your way out and live line them. As long as the tide is moving and there is a current, you should make out.

Remember, your limit is 2 fluke and they must be 21 inches long.
