Bay Jigging for Blues – Long Island Bluefish Report – 9-8-09
September 8th, 2009The blue fish action has been good lately, especially in the bays on the south shore of Long Island. Fishing in the area of Jones Inlet has been producing. Read the full report now.
From the 3rd Wantagh Bridge to Jones Inlet, the blues have been biting. Bay jigging has been the best bet. Look for bird activity and fish breaking the water for your best chances. Most of the blues are from 2-4 pounds. There have been reports of green Bonita and False Albacore showing up as well. While you are out there, you can try your luck and go for striped bass by fishing a white bucktail very slowly on the bottom under the working birds. *Causeway Fishing Tip* For best results, try casting tins and poppers such as 007′s, Deadly Dicks, Stillwater poppers and Yo-Zuri poppers.
That is all for this week. Send your blue fish pictures to info@causewaybaitandtackle.com or stop by the shop and we’ll snap a few pictures for you. All pictures will be added to the Causeway Fishing Blog.
