A quick update from the South Shore waters of Long Island indicate that the blackfish are around in abundance at all of the local spots including Atlantic Beach Reef and Hempstead Reef. We were catching blackfish up to 7 1/2 pounds on green crabs.

We also saw stripers being caught just east of Jones Inlet in 40 feet of water while tolling green umbrella rigs. We weren’t sure on any sizes but there was definitely good activity.
