Get the Gear Ready – Blackfish Season Opens October 1
September 16th, 2008With the early close of the Fluke season, everyone is has been bottom fishing for Seabass and Porgies and many people are getting some Blackfish mixed in. So needless to say… EVERYONE is chomping at the bit, waiting for the Blackfish season to open up! Typically, the fishing can be RED hot on the in-shore reefs and wrecks, making it easy for even the small boats to get on the Blackfish grounds!
We are already completely stocked with terminal tackle, including pre-snelled Mustad Virginia hooks on 12″ leaders in size 3, 4, 5 and 6 and also BULK packs of the same snelled hooks. For pre-tied, ready to fish, rigs we have the standard 451 Blackfish rig in sizes 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. We have the Hi-Lo rigs (for the REALLY stick bottom) in sizes 3, 4 and 5 and what seems to be the most popular rigs… the Pro Series Blackfish rigs. The Pro Series rigs are tied with Gamakatsu 3/0 Octopus Hooks on Flourocarbon leaders!
If you prefer to tie your own rigs, we have packages of un-snelled Virginia hooks or un-snelled Octopus hooks and you can tie up your rigs on either mono leader material or flourocarbon leader material.
We already have fresh and frozen clams and we WILL be stocked up on Green Crabs and Fiddler Crabs for opening day!
