Fluke fishing Red Hot on the South Shore – 6/1/09
June 1st, 2009If you are looking to go fluke fishing around Long Island, don’t waste any time and hit the South Shore. The bays are red hot. Due to the strict Fluke Regulations in place (21″ minimum) they have been hard to come by. Read on to see where and what is being used…
The fluke are hitting well in the bays along the South Shore of Long Island.
Where:
Swift, Haunts and Broad Creeks. There have been plenty of fish to be found here as well as Merrick Bay.
What:
Spro Bucktails and tesers seem to be the best bet. There has been success with teasers in white or chartruse and white. Tip these rigs with either spearing or Berkley Gulp Swimming Minnows. We have been hearing many great things about the Berkley Gulp products. We recommend you try some and let us know how you do. Make sure your line is no heavier then 12 lb test.
How:
The key to fishing these areas is to stick to the channel eges. They are hitting good.
We hope you experience the same red hot fishing other flukers have been reporting. Please stop by the shop or email us your reports at info@causewaybaitandtackle.com subject: Fishing Report and we’ll add your reports to the site. Don’t forget the new fluke limits. Fish must be 21″ in length and you may only take 2.
