Flounder Fishing Report – Long Island South Shore – 5-2-09

May 2nd, 2009

No significant change around here to be honest, although the fishing in Jamaica Bay and Raritan Bay remains pretty steady. Not great fishing, but for those who put in the time and effort, they can manage a decent catch.

We also heard of a few fish caught in West Channel and the Amity Cut, east of us. Again, nothing terrific but worth a shot if you’re going to look for the Flounder. Locally, Sandworms and Mussels have been the deal along with PLENTY of chum!!

Danny V., from the Shop, fished with our friend Ed Geyer on Ed’s boat the “Per Diem” out of Forge River in Moriches on Monday and between 4 guys they managed 16 nice keeper Flounder! All those fish were all caught on Bloodworms, and chumming with Clam Chum and Mussels!

On Thursday, Danny V. and Chuck from the shop, fished with our friend Ed Geyer again, aboard the “Per Diem”. They fished near the Coast Guard station on the incoming for 10 keeper Flounder! again, all fish were caught on Bloodworms, and chumming with Clam Chum and Mussels!
