How good is this reel compared to the Revo Toro 51-HS? Left-handed models are no longer available in the Toro series and I wanted the high-speed gear ratio. I wanted to use this reel for smaller musky jerk baits.

Hey Scott, the Teramar is a stiff rod but I can’t give a fair comparison with the other two as we do not stock them and we haven’t really had any experience with them. I will tell you that the St. Croix Avid Inshore rods are SPECTACULAR but pricey. Any other questions feel free to get in touch with us.

I recently bought a Abu Garcia Revo Inshore reel. Spent some time doing research on a rod. My application is bay fishing and river fishing in the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. I was looking at St Croix Inshore rods but then decided to go a bit cheaper and got a Shamano Teramar Inshore Heavy fast action rod. not sure if I made the best choice, the rod is very stiff. Some other rods I considered was a AiRRUS Ultra XL and a Fenwick Inshore. Any suggestions? Did I go wrong with the rod I bought?

Hello Captain and thank you for your question! The Revo Inshore is a great choice, I would consider looking at St. Croix Tidemaster Rods and St. Croix Avid Inshore rods for your application. The actions you are looking for will obviously be determined by what lures you throw most often. As far as line, the 30lb braid should work just fine!

I am loking for a new Snook/inshore combination and the new Revo Inshore reel looks like it’ll fill the bill. What rod and line are ya’ll using/recommend. Will 30#braid work? My main targets are spillway Snook and back country “everything”. Florida west coast and ten thousand islands/everglades will be the venue when not hitting the local locks. Thanks.
