Abu Garcia REVO Inshore Reel Review
April 11th, 2008This new Revo Inshore baitcasting reel from Abu Garcia has been creating quite a stir lately! This is definately a SLICK new reel!! A couple of us, here in the shop have spent years and years in the shallow back bays, targeting Striped Bass on light tackle and this reel is just PERFECT for that application. Compared to the reels that we used to use, like Shimano Curado’s and Chronarch’s… this one has many advantages. It has a lower profile than the typical baitcaster, so it feel nicer in your hand, it holds more line than any other reel in it’s class, these reels have 6.4:1 gear ratio and an unbelievable amount of power for a reel of it’s size… much more drag power (24 pounds) than comprable reels. It’s light in weight and very, very smooth. The Revo was designed for saltwater use, so it’s as tough in the freshwater as it is in the salt!
Additionally, it’s LESS EXPENSIVE than most other reels in it’s class.
OH… and there is a $20 rebate offer from Abu as well as a FREE T-shirt!
Stop in the store and check one out. If you love light tackle fishing… this reel is absolutely one to look at.

I am loking for a new Snook/inshore combination and the new Revo Inshore reel looks like it’ll fill the bill. What rod and line are ya’ll using/recommend. Will 30#braid work? My main targets are spillway Snook and back country “everything”. Florida west coast and ten thousand islands/everglades will be the venue when not hitting the local locks. Thanks.

Hello Captain and thank you for your question! The Revo Inshore is a great choice, I would consider looking at St. Croix Tidemaster Rods and St. Croix Avid Inshore rods for your application. The actions you are looking for will obviously be determined by what lures you throw most often. As far as line, the 30lb braid should work just fine!
