Fight for the 2009 NYS Fluke Regulations!
March 30th, 2009Recently, The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) drafted the 2009 NYS Fluke Regulations. As with many anglers of the Long Island area, we feel these new regulations are unfair and preposterous. Causeway Bait and Tackle along with the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) are joining forces to get these regulations amended to increase the total limit and size of fluke anglers are allowed to keep as well as extending to total season restrictions…
We have posted copies of a few draft letters to local politicians at the United States House of Representatives that can be printed out and completed by you. Print each letter and sign your name, include your address and mail it to each legislator. We strongly recommend you print out all 4 letters and mail each one individually.
This is your opportunity to stand up and try to make this right. We encourage you not to sit on your hands about these regs. If the regulations go unchanged, it will have adverse effects to many of the bait and tackle shops and fishing/party boats island wide.
If we all come together and fight for what we believe is unfair, we stand a greater chance of these Fluke Regulations being reversed. You may click each letter below to print. If you are unable to print these letters and live locally, stop by the shop and we will help you. If you have any questions or problems downloading these files, contact us. Help us help you!

Let’s Go Folks… SEND THOSE LETTERS!!! Voice your opinions or the government will look right past us!!
Agreed. These regulations go way over the mark. Thanks for setting up the template letters – a great way to help people speak out.
I’ve printed mine – I just added a couple of sentences of my own at the start and the end so the letter looks unique.
Best of luck with this, guys.
This is insane-how do you close the fluke season? My husband and I look forward to it every year-we go to Montauk. Now we will do something else that week and it will hurt the tourist trade so badly! Please rethink the closing. I will live with the ridiculous size limit but please don’t close down any of the summer!
