With no doubt, this stuff was the hottest item in the store this past season and we were sold it faster than we could get in stock. The most popular application in our area was for Fluke fishing, but people used it for just about everything… Bass, Blues, Seabass, Porgies, Cod and even for Blackfish.
Tsunami is fast becoming a best seller with ALL their lures and the new Timber Lure’s are sure to a hit as well. Our factory rep gave us the run down on these lures right from the beginning, when they were still in the design stage and followed up with us for much of the process. In our opinion Read the rest of this entry »
Recently, we’ve had a few requests, to list our most popular rods that people are using for Blackfish.
So…. In no particular order… here they are!!
Keep in mind, these are the rods that we sell the most of, for Blackfishing around Long Island. Generally speaking, people are using these rods to fish anywhere between 6 and 10 ounces of lead in 40 to 120 feet of water. Read the rest of this entry »
Since Penn Reels discontinued the 704Z and the 706Z, our surf fishing customers, especially, have been searching for a reliable and affordable replacement and in our opinion… here it is… The Shimano Saragosa! These reels have many of the same features as the VERY high end Stella’s without the high end price! Read the rest of this entry »
Thanks to Richard Bertolifor submitting this Aquaskinz Bucktail and Tin Holster Review.
I recently purchased the Aquaskinz Bucktail and Tin Holster and it was exactly what I needed to get the weight of my favorite lures off of my shoulders. No surf fisherman would show up at the beach without an dassortment of bucktails and tins, but these timeless and highly effective lures are HEAVY. Just a few of them add significant weight to the shoulder worn surfbag. This holster takes the weight off of the shoulder and puts it on the belt, where it’s hardly noticed. The high quality material, workmanship and usability of this product is typical of the Aquaskinz line. I highly recommend it!
We thought Shimano did a great job with these new reels. They would make a great reel for anyone needing a WATERPROOF drag… from Kayak fisherman to surf fisherman. The larger sized reels hold plenty of line for say a 9 or 10 foot rod too!
The Socorro reels feature graphite frames, side-plates and rotors, keeping the weight of the reel to a minimum and we all know that if you’re walking a beach all day, light is GOOD! Aluminum Spools and Shielded Ball Bearings will help keep the sand and salt from doing too much damage. And for those of you who fish with Braided lines especially… You should know that the Socorro is designed with the “Propulsion Line Management System”. It’s a prett cool concept from Shimano and in a nutshell they’ve designed the spool to minimize tangles and WIND KNOTS. We ALL HATE wind knots… particularly when you have a spool full of expensive braid!!! The design is supposed to allow the line to come off the spool in smaller, tighter wraps which causes less friction on the spool lip as well as your stripper guide. Reduced Friction = Longer Casts!
Here are some features:
Propulsion Line Management System
Propulsion Spool Lip
Power Roller III
S-Arm Cam
Redesigned Bail Tip
Lightweight Graphite Frame, Sideplate and Rotor
Cold Forged Aluminum Spool
Repairable Clicker
1+1 Shielded Stainless Steel Ball Bearings
Varispeed Oscillation
Super Stopper II
Dyna-Balance
Waterproof Drag
Causeway Opinion??? All in all we like this reel. It appears to be made quite well and definitely hard to beat for $69.99!
For the price…. these bags are a home run! The Blue Wave surf bags are impressive, very well designed with a GREAT, built-in tin pouch in the front. What’s cool about these is that you can open the ONE flap and have access to your entire inventory with out having to worry about anything falling out! The shoulder strap is longer than average too, which we think is a cut above some of the other bags in the price range. It’s completely adjustable, and removable, to any length but it’s long enough for even our “larger” customers….lol. Sounds kind of wrong but it’s true, some of the bigger guys can’t get other bags around their shoulders, but this one is plenty long! It has a durable mesh bottom for easy drainage and the lure inserts are adjustable…. something you just don’t see anywhere else.
These bags come in two perfect sizes and the Causeway opinion is….. Great bag in this price range and we highly recommend it!
We recently added the ALL NEW 9″ and 12″, pre-rigged Slug-Go’s to our inventory. Let us tell you… these things are AWESOME! Not only are they the perfect size for Bass and Blues but they are pre-rigged, with two connected hooks!
Using 4X strong, black nickel, needle point hooks, the 9″ bait comes with a 7/0 nose hook and a 5/0 rear hook. The 12″ features a 9/0 up front and a 7/0 out back. The connection is 50 pound dacron. And the bait is molded onto the rig, rather than the rig being threaded into the bait. These baits start straight and stay straight. The rigging is far more durable than hand rigging, and for those of you that have ever tried to rig a plastic bait like this, it’s NOT EASY to get the hooks straight enough to avoid any spinning!!
