We are starting to hear of some reports coming in from the North Shore of Long Island. The good news is there are fish around. Mostly in the form of Blue fish and Striped Bass. There seems to be some good action to the west in Hempstead Harbor.

Some of the stripers are decent sizes. Some of the bigger keepers were in the 30-35 inches. From what we were told, the action is coming from the boats. Unfortunately, we have not heard anything from the surf so if you have an opportunity to get out on the sound, do yourself a favor and start trolling.

With a less then desireable weather forecast this weekend, we don’t expect to hear much. Keep those reports coming. The fishing is getting good.

No significant change around here to be honest, although the fishing in Jamaica Bay and Raritan Bay remains pretty steady. Not great fishing, but for those who put in the time and effort, they can manage a decent catch.

It’s happening! Although we haven’t heard about any big numbers of Bass, there are some around and the Blues have showed up in force. Sounds like the better fishing has been around the inlets though, in places like Democrat Point, Sore Thumb and West End 2.

Good News… fishing has been steadily improving all over the bay. There are fish in the back bays, the bridges and on the West Bar now. Sounds like Clam Chumming is the best way to go right now, although the Blues showed up in force too… so make sure you extra hooks with you!!
